As a further reminder of the first convening of the Usual Suspects, I turn to the discussion at hand. The theme on the evening of the 26th of January in Amsterdam is entitled, The Art of the Non-lecture and the Spectre of the Public Intellectual. This incredibly broad framework will hopefully give space to discussion around the motivating factors behind the series of non-lectures itself, but more importantly the circulation of Derrida’s own work in relation, if any, to popular discourse, intellectual deconstruction and the interesting post-institutional love-hate relationship with the idea of the intellectual.
